I like yogurt. Especially really thick yogurt. But this is like yogurt on steroids! But good for you, natural steroids. A 6oz. cup of 0% fat Fage is only 90cal, and 7g of carbs (7g sugar) but packs 15g of protein. Plus, it is super thick and creamy. I had the 2% with honey this morning. Ridiculously good. I had the 0% 6oz cup at lunch and threw in some strawberries. Again, delicious. Another bonus is the packaging. The flavored varieties are set up side by side (think those cottage cheese side-by-side things). The cool thing is that the packaging folds over and you can pour in as much or as little of the peaches, honey, whatever, as you want. Or you can keep them separate and scoop as much as you want. Try it. Its awesome.
You may also want to try Siggi's (www.skyr.com), check website for local retailer. Probably the "thickest" yogurt I've ever consumed, but a little too dry for my taste.
ReplyDeleteI'm still partial to St. Benoit - an amazing product, plus you get the deposit for returning the ceramic container.
I love yogurt but just don't get the greek stuff.
ReplyDeletelove!
ReplyDeletei've eaten fage DAILY for the past two years. its my bedtime snack every night too (1/2 container w/ a few berries or with cocoa powder mixed in). some people boo hoo that it is pricey, but when you look at the cost as a protein (compared to meat, etc)...its actually not expensive for the amount of protein you get.
we also use it as the base for white sauce for fish tacos, and in egg or tuna salad instead of mayo.
i could go on forever. it is my favorite food.
and i've tried every other brand of greek yogurt and fage is hands down the best. i also dabble in the 2% , still only 130 calories. MMMMMMMMMMMMM.....
We get the same stuff over here, it is just called differently (but packaging is same). I love mine with honey too :)))
ReplyDeleteyeah... beth basically lives on the stuff and it's pretty much the only dairy i eat. it's good!
ReplyDeleteAlready on it, add it to my oatmeal and all of my smoothies. I'm gonna get you a FAGe t-shirt. That's not funny is it? I had to.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some at TJ's! Can't wait to try it. I'm a Fage/Greek yogurt virgin.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to find FAGE in the small town I live in (actually I've seen it in more stores lately, it's getting popular). I started making my own greek-style yogurt using a culture that I bought from Cultures for Health. It's really pretty simple to do, tastes just like FAGE and saves me a lot of money. I also discovered that just straining a nice high quality organic yogurt tastes a lot like greek yogurt.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this yogurt - add some honey and it's totally dessert.
ReplyDeleteAh I love Fage! They have it in a big tub at Costco.. you should check your local one!!
